{"id":83760,"date":"2017-08-27T23:15:00","date_gmt":"2017-08-27T23:15:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=4197791448c3e54b15cb76eb81ac610c"},"modified":"2017-08-27T23:15:00","modified_gmt":"2017-08-27T23:15:00","slug":"news-story-cleaner-journeys-as-government-commits-11-million-to-greener-buses","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=83760","title":{"rendered":"News story: Cleaner journeys as government commits \u00a311 million to greener buses"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>Local authorities and bus companies in Bristol, York, Brighton, Surrey, Denbighshire and Wiltshire have been <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/publications\/low-emission-bus-scheme-2016-to-2017-successful-bidders\">awarded the funding<\/a> under the government\u2019s \u2018Low emission bus scheme\u2019 to help them buy 153 cleaner buses.<\/p>\n<p>The successful bidders will use the funding to buy new electric and gas buses, and to install stations to fuel or charge them.<\/p>\n<p>The government is determined to clean up air in towns and cities across the country, and today\u2019s (28 August 2017) investment in green buses comes after our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/publications\/air-quality-plan-for-nitrogen-dioxide-no2-in-uk-2017\">air quality plan<\/a> was published last month.<\/p>\n<p>Transport Minister Paul Maynard said:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Low emission buses are an important part of our plans to make motoring cleaner and improve air quality across the country.<\/p>\n<p>New greener buses will be more comfortable for passengers, they are cost efficient and are good for the environment.<\/p>\n<p class=\"last-child\">I am pleased to announce this latest group of successful bidders, which should make a real difference to air quality in towns and cities across the country.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The successful bidders are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Denbighshire County Council, Wales &#8211; \u00a3500,000 for 4 electric buses to be used on services in mid-Denbighshire<\/li>\n<li>City of York Council &#8211; \u00a33.3 million for 24 electric buses to be used on park and ride services in York<\/li>\n<li>South Gloucestershire Council &#8211;
