{"id":84051,"date":"2017-09-07T09:02:13","date_gmt":"2017-09-07T09:02:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=8cdb4221ae70d8bb53b3c4a3fe31af4c"},"modified":"2017-09-07T09:02:13","modified_gmt":"2017-09-07T09:02:13","slug":"news-story-appointment-of-six-commissioners-to-the-judicial-appointments-commission","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=84051","title":{"rendered":"News story: Appointment of six commissioners to the Judicial Appointments Commission"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>Jane Furniss, Andrew Kennon and Professor Sir Simon Wessley have been appointed as lay Commissioners, Emir Feisal appointed as a non-legally qualified Commissioner and Judge Mathangi Asokan, Judge Fiona Monk as judicial Commissioners to the Judicial Appointments Commission (JAC) from 1 September 2017 to 31 August 2020.<\/p>\n<p>JAC is an independent body that selects candidates for judicial office in courts and tribunals in England and Wales, and for some tribunals with UK-wide jurisdiction. Candidates are selected on merit, through fair and open competition.<\/p>\n<p>JAC Commissioners are appointed by Her Majesty the Queen on the recommendation of the Lord Chancellor.<\/p>\n<p>Appointments and re-appointments to JAC are regulated by the Commissioner for Public Appointments.
