Ian Kenyon, current Chief Finance Officer (CFO<\/abbr>) of Cancer Research UK, will become the first CFO<\/abbr> of UK Research and Innovation (UKRI<\/abbr>)<\/a>, Science Minister Jo Johnson confirmed today (8 September 2017).<\/p>\n

Ian will work closely with UKRI<\/abbr> Chief Executive, Sir Mark Walport<\/a>, its Board, and the Executive Chairs to establish UKRI<\/abbr> and ensure it plays a central role in delivering the government\u2019s Industrial Strategy.<\/p>\n

As CFO<\/abbr>, Ian will ensure the new organisation operates efficiently and effectively as a unified body, enabling UKRI<\/abbr> to maximise opportunities for the UK\u2019s world-class research and innovation base.<\/p>\n

Ian will have oversight of UKRI<\/abbr>\u2019s \u00a36 billion per annum portfolio of research and innovation funding which will grow over the course of this Spending Review, as part of the \u00a34.7 billion R&D<\/abbr> investment announced during last year\u2019s Autumn statement.<\/p>\n

Ian\u2019s extensive experience in both the private and charity sectors means he is the perfect choice to handle UKRI<\/abbr>\u2019s financial management and ensure we are supporting the continued success of the UK\u2019s innovative research base in its efforts to address global challenges.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
