It is often called stratified or personalised medicine.<\/p>\n<p>By delivering the right treatments to the right patients in the right way it should create better results.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"our-focus\">Our focus<\/h2>\n<p>Organisations can apply for funding for feasibility studies and research and development projects.<\/p>\n<p>Feasibility studies could include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>helping healthcare providers understand the attractiveness of a concept including by determining patient and user needs, required changes to patient pathways, commissioning and procurement options, health economics and adoption drivers<\/li>\n<li>technical activities in areas such as developing prototypes and proofs of concept, collecting further data on use of biomarkers, and refining algorithms to improve patient stratification<\/li>\n<li>assessing technical success in areas such as analytical performance, and diagnostic sensitivity and specificity<\/li>\n<li>determining what information will need to be collated from a regulatory or health technology assessment<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Research and development projects could focus on decision-making or take one or more of the following approaches:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>developing tools to better integrate informatics and data<\/li>\n<li>establishing precision medicine clinical trials<\/li>\n<li>developing rapid diagnostics to inform better treatment decisions<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"call-to-action\">\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/collections\/innovate-uk-health-and-life-sciences\">Find out more about how we supports business innovation in health and life sciences<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h2 id=\"competition-information\">Competition information<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>the competition is open, and the deadline for applications is midday on 25 October 2017<\/li>\n<li>feasibility projects must be led by an SME working alone or in partnership with other businesses or research and technology organisations<\/li>\n<li>we expect feasibility projects to have total costs of up to \u00a3100,000 and to last up to 12 months<\/li>\n<li>research and development projects can be led by a business or a research and technology organisation working with at least one partner and must involve at least one SME<\/li>\n<li>we expect research and development projects to have total costs of between \u00a31 million and \u00a32 million and last up to 24 months<\/li>\n<li>businesses can attract up to 70% of their total project costs<\/li>\n<li>a briefing event will be held on 20 September 2017<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"call-to-action\">\n<p><a rel=\"external\" href=\"https:\/\/apply-for-innovation-funding.service.gov.uk\/competition\/48\/overview\">Find out more and apply<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Organisations can apply for a share of  \u00a36 million to develop precision medicine technologies that better target patient treatments.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":8,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[13],"tags":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/84232"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/users\/8"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcomments&post=84232"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/84232\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=84232"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcategories&post=84232"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Ftags&post=84232"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
