{"id":84554,"date":"2017-09-19T10:44:19","date_gmt":"2017-09-19T10:44:19","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=44558155ef2ac4f047ae258fef33432f"},"modified":"2017-09-19T10:44:19","modified_gmt":"2017-09-19T10:44:19","slug":"press-release-no-waste-permit-costs-driver","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=84554","title":{"rendered":"Press release: No waste permit costs driver"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>Caught driving a tipper truck full of waste without being registered with the Environment Agency has today (Mon 18\/9) cost Patrick Egan \u00a3965.<\/p>\n<p>Egan of Grange Road, Grays was convicted in his absence by Basildon magistrates of driving the truck without being registered as a waste carrier nor being employed by a registered waste carrier.<\/p>\n<p>The court fined him \u00a3660 and ordered that as well as the fine he should pay a victim surcharge of \u00a366, Environment Agency costs of \u00a385 and compensation of \u00a3154.<\/p>\n<p>The tipper truck was stopped by police in Gumley Road, Grays in the course of an investigation into fly-tipping.<\/p>\n<p>When the vehicle was stopped in January this year it was loaded with rubble, bricks and plasterboard.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"dont-ignore-advice\">Don\u2019t ignore advice<\/h3>\n<p>Egan told them the vehicle belonged to a friend called James whom he sometimes did favours for, such as driving lorries, and was paid \u00a3100 to drive it.<\/p>\n<p>He said he did not check the load.<\/p>\n<p>After the hearing an Environment Agency officer spokesperson said: \u201cPeople driving tipper trucks such as Mr Egan drove have a responsibility to check the load and to be properly permitted by the Environment Agency. It is not good enough to ignore this advice as the court decision has shown today.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The cost of registering with the Environment Agency in 2017 is \u00a3154.
