These new guidelines will apply to all applications for standard or enhanced checks.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/criminal-record-check-documents\">new guidelines<\/a> will run in parallel with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/guidance\/documents-the-applicant-must-provide\">existing guidelines<\/a> from 2 October 2017 until 29 December 2017, when the existing guidelines will cease to apply. We appreciate that you\u2019ll need to make changes to relevant literature and inform your customers. Therefore, you can start using the new guidance from the 2 October, but have 3 months to transition fully to the new guidance.<\/p>\n<p>The enhancement is being introduced so that DBS\u2019s identity checking process is aligned with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/publications\/right-to-work-checks-employers-guide\">right to work<\/a> checks.
