{"id":85197,"date":"2017-10-10T14:24:00","date_gmt":"2017-10-10T14:24:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=c53ac1192e7c75a1543e91f89bd63078"},"modified":"2017-10-10T14:24:00","modified_gmt":"2017-10-10T14:24:00","slug":"news-story-top-of-the-range-military-training-facility-opened-at-garelochhead","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=85197","title":{"rendered":"News story: \u2018Top of the range\u2019 military training facility opened at Garelochhead"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>The \u00a33 million project took around 2 years to complete and is designed to provide the optimum \u2018safe place\u2019 training environment for armed forces personnel in order to equip them with the skills required for operational duties at home and overseas.<\/p>\n<p>The project has seen the existing Garelochhead ranges transformed in to 2 new developments: a grouping and zeroing (G&amp;Z) range and an electronic target tange (ETR) and a single range building complex with classrooms, a targetry store and workshops, which serve the 2 ranges.<\/p>\n<p>Brigadier Neil Dalton OBE, head of training for the Defence Infrastructure Organisation (<abbr title=\"Defence Infrastructure Organisation\">DIO<\/abbr>) said:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>The opening of these ranges represents a significant investment by defence, delivered by <abbr title=\"Defence Infrastructure Organisation\">DIO<\/abbr>, to provide the modern facilities required to develop and maintain individual shooting skills.<\/p>\n<p class=\"last-child\">These ranges will serve a host of nearby units, as well as those using the neighbouring training area, and are a great further boost to the quality of infrastructure in the Clyde area.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The programme delivery was managed by Scotland\u2019s <abbr title=\"Defence Infrastructure Organisation\">DIO<\/abbr> service delivery training team and industry partner Landmarc Support Services with local contractor, Mackenzie Construction Ltd responsible for the build phase of the project.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"image embedded\">\n<div class=\"img\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/assets.publishing.service.gov.uk\/government\/uploads\/system\/uploads\/image_data\/file\/68098\/GOS__Hd_DIO_SD_Trg_opening_of_new_range_GTC__edited_.jpg\" alt=\"General Bob Bruce and Brigadier Neil Dalton at the official opening. All rights reserved.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Lt Col Mike Onslow, Commander of <abbr title=\"Defence Infrastructure Organisation\">DIO<\/abbr> service delivery training team in Scotland and Northern Ireland said:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><abbr title=\"Defence Infrastructure Organisation\">DIO<\/abbr> is committed to improving the facilities and services that it provides to the armed forces and this project is a great example of how we are doing this. The benefits offered by these new facilities are legion.
