Where members are in employment and in receipt of a pension <abbr title=\"HM Revenue &amp; Customs\">HMRC<\/abbr> may have incorrectly based the tax code on an individual\u2019s pension rather than their main salary.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"what-is-my-tax-code-used-for\">What is my tax code used for?<\/h3>\n<p>Individual tax codes are used by your pension provider to work out how much Income Tax should be taken from your pay and pension.
