{"id":87572,"date":"2017-12-22T09:21:15","date_gmt":"2017-12-22T09:21:15","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=5a4ca71f7297c7173c47011b592af9a3"},"modified":"2017-12-22T09:21:15","modified_gmt":"2017-12-22T09:21:15","slug":"news-story-stakeholder-engagement-events-ecl-consultation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=87572","title":{"rendered":"News story: Stakeholder engagement events: ECL consultation"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>The Intellectual Property Office (<abbr title=\"Intellectual Property Office\">IPO<\/abbr>) are holding three events for stakeholders about the live <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/consultations\/application-to-operate-an-ecl-scheme\">consultation<\/a> on the Copyright Licensing Agency\u2019s (<abbr title=\"Copyright Licensing Agency\">CLA<\/abbr>) application to operate an extended collective licencing (<abbr title=\"Extended Collective Licencing\">ECL<\/abbr>) scheme. The government is seeking views from anyone with an interest in the application.<\/p>\n<p><abbr title=\"Extended Collective Licencing\">ECL<\/abbr> allows collective management organisations (<abbr title=\"Collective management organisations\">CMOs<\/abbr>) to offer copyright licences which cover the works of all relevant rights holders in the sector. This includes those who have not directly mandated the <abbr title=\"Collective management organisation\">CMO<\/abbr> to represent them, unless those right holders have chosen to opt out.<\/p>\n<p>These events will provide stakeholders with the opportunity to hear more detail about the application and its impact. They will also be able to ask questions of both <abbr title=\"Copyright Licensing Agency\">CLA<\/abbr> representatives and Government officials examining the application.<\/p>\n<p>The details of the events are below.
