{"id":88152,"date":"2018-01-18T19:07:00","date_gmt":"2018-01-18T19:07:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=cb75c0b214a89dbae8e9cefb435dda3f"},"modified":"2018-01-18T19:07:00","modified_gmt":"2018-01-18T19:07:00","slug":"press-release-business-secretary-welcomes-action-by-banks-to-support-small-businesses-affected-by-carillion","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=88152","title":{"rendered":"Press release: Business Secretary welcomes action by banks to support small businesses affected by Carillion"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>The Business Secretary Greg Clark has today (18 January 2018) welcomed the decision by several banks to set up funds to support small businesses affected by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/news\/government-protects-essential-public-services-as-carillion-declares-insolvency\">Carillion\u2019s insolvency<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Today, Lloyds Banking Group has launched a \u00a350 million fund, HSBC a \u00a3100 million fund and RBS has made \u00a375 million of assistance available.<\/p>\n<p>It follows a meeting held by Greg Clark yesterday with banks where he discussed further support and advice that could be provided by the banks for small businesses affected by Carillion\u2019s liquidation.<\/p>\n<p>Greg Clark said:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"last-child\">I welcome this quick and positive move by banks including Lloyds, HSBC and RBS. This follows my meeting with the banks yesterday where I challenged them to see what further support they could provide for SMEs affected by Carillion\u2019s insolvency.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"last-child\">It is essential that small businesses exposed are given the support they need by their lenders, and I look forward to other banks following suit.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>HMRC has also outlined the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/news\/practical-support-for-businesses-affected-by-carillion-liquidation\">support being offered to those businesses contracted to Carillion<\/a> that may be concerned about their ability to pay tax.
