{"id":88282,"date":"2018-01-23T14:30:09","date_gmt":"2018-01-23T14:30:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=2b42bd3ae297f4612ab30491c4caae74"},"modified":"2018-01-23T14:30:09","modified_gmt":"2018-01-23T14:30:09","slug":"news-story-millions-of-pounds-for-innovative-businesses-new-opportunities","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=88282","title":{"rendered":"News story: Millions of pounds for innovative businesses: new opportunities"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>Innovate UK has millions of pounds to invest in innovative UK businesses up to April 2018.<\/p>\n<p>The funding will be awarded through competitions in a range of areas, which will open for applications in the coming months.<\/p>\n<p>Businesses can also apply into an open funding competition with ideas for any game-changing or disruptive innovations.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"opportunities-for-funding\">Opportunities for funding<\/h2>\n<h3 id=\"emerging-and-enabling-technologies-and-health-and-life-sciences\">Emerging and enabling technologies and health and life sciences<\/h3>\n<p>Up to \u00a319 million will be invested to support productivity and cutting-edge innovation across these 2 industry sectors.<\/p>\n<p>In the area of health and life sciences, we will seek projects that show significant innovation in one of the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>increasing agricultural productivity<\/li>\n<li>improving food quality and sustainability<\/li>\n<li>advanced therapies, such as cell and gene therapies<\/li>\n<li>precision medicine<\/li>\n<li>medicines discovery<\/li>\n<li>advanced biosciences<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For emerging and enabling technologies, projects should focus on an Innovate UK priority area:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>emerging technologies<\/li>\n<li>digital<\/li>\n<li>enabling capabilities<\/li>\n<li>space applications<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"call-to-action\">\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/news\/emerging-and-enabling-health-and-life-sciences-apply-for-funds\">Find out more about this competition<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h3 id=\"open-programme\">Open programme<\/h3>\n<p>A share of up to \u00a319 million will be available for game-changing or disruptive innovations that have the potential to impact the UK economy.<\/p>\n<p>Projects may come from an Innovate UK industry sector &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/collections\/innovate-uk-emerging-and-enabling-technologies\">emerging and enabling technologies<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/collections\/innovate-uk-health-and-life-sciences\">health and life sciences<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/collections\/innovate-uk-infrastructure-systems\">infrastructure systems<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/collections\/innovate-uk-manufacturing-and-materials\">manufacturing and materials<\/a> &#8211; or be outside of them.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"biomedical-catalyst\">Biomedical catalyst<\/h3>\n<p>This is the first biomedical catalyst competition of 2018, which will offer up to \u00a312 million to SMEs working on projects that solve healthcare challenges. These could include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>disease prevention and proactive management of health and chronic conditions<\/li>\n<li>earlier and better detection and diagnosis of disease, leading to better patient outcomes<\/li>\n<li>tailored treatments that either change the underlying disease or offer potential cures<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 id=\"industrial-strategy-challenge-fund-faraday-battery-challenge\">Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund: Faraday Battery Challenge<\/h3>\n<p>The Faraday Battery Challenge supports the design, development and manufacture of batteries for the electrification of vehicles as part of the Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund.<\/p>\n<p>In this second round of innovation funding up to \u00a325 million will be invested in projects that stimulate new automotive battery technologies and build the supply chain in the UK.<\/p>\n<div class=\"call-to-action\">\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/news\/new-battery-technologies-for-electric-vehicles-apply-for-funding\">Find out more about this competition<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h3 id=\"industrial-strategy-challenge-fund-digital-health-technology-catalyst\">Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund: digital health technology catalyst<\/h3>\n<p>Up to \u00a310 million will be available under the digital health technology catalyst, which is part of the Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund.<\/p>\n<p>We will seek projects that support the development of digital health products or digitally-enabled medical technologies, which:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>improve patient outcomes<\/li>\n<li>transform healthcare delivery<\/li>\n<li>enable more efficient delivery of healthcare<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 id=\"industrial-strategy-challenge-fund-robotics\">Industrial Strategy Challenge Fund: robotics<\/h3>\n<p>Up to \u00a320 million will be available in this competition.
