{"id":88468,"date":"2018-01-29T19:09:06","date_gmt":"2018-01-29T19:09:06","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=d4d3569a927b6314af02716c67c0c648"},"modified":"2018-01-29T19:09:06","modified_gmt":"2018-01-29T19:09:06","slug":"news-story-london-vapc-respond-to-consultation-on-homelessness-code-of-guidance","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=88468","title":{"rendered":"News story: London VAPC respond to consultation on homelessness code of guidance"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>The outcome of a closed government <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/consultations\/homelessness-code-of-guidance-for-local-authorities\">consultation<\/a> on a proposed homelessness code of guidance for local authorities, is keenly awaited by London Veterans Advisory and Pensions Committee (VAPC).<\/p>\n<p>The VAPC, had previously commissioned an independent review from the <a rel=\"external\" href=\"https:\/\/www.kent.ac.uk\/law\/research\/projects\/current\/homelessveterans.html\">University of  Kent<\/a>, on how London\u2019s councils implement housing policy affecting veterans, contributed to the consultation.<\/p>\n<p>It welcomed that guidance on dealing with veterans now forms a separate section within the proposed code.<\/p>\n<p>But London VAPC chairman Lynn Verity suggested there were several areas where further clarification was vital:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"last-child\">Chief among these are that the code as currently written does not define either \u2018veteran\u2019 or \u2018vulnerable\u2019.
