{"id":88500,"date":"2018-01-30T15:38:18","date_gmt":"2018-01-30T15:38:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=55d52dcc04fee5132457042c8f530db1"},"modified":"2018-01-30T15:38:18","modified_gmt":"2018-01-30T15:38:18","slug":"press-release-hgv-drivers-sentence-doubled-after-fatal-crash","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=88500","title":{"rendered":"Press release: HGV driver\u2019s sentence doubled after fatal crash"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>Traian Soare, a Romanian national who killed 2 people after crashing into them while driving a Heavy Goods Vehicle has had his sentence doubled by the Court of Appeal.<\/p>\n<p>Soare\u2019s original sentence was referred to the Court after Solicitor General Robert Buckland QC MP thought it was too low.<\/p>\n<p>Soare, 51, collided with the victims after checking his satellite navigation system and veering into their lane.<\/p>\n<p>He originally received a sentence of 2 years at Canterbury Crown Court and a driving disqualification of 2 years and 7 months. The Court of Appeal agreed that this was too lenient and increased his sentence to 4 years.
