{"id":88504,"date":"2018-01-30T16:06:12","date_gmt":"2018-01-30T16:06:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=8bb2540ab92ab69e0f990ebd9d96cae0"},"modified":"2018-01-30T16:06:12","modified_gmt":"2018-01-30T16:06:12","slug":"press-release-hm-courts-and-tribunals-service-tests-fully-digital-divorce-application-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=88504","title":{"rendered":"Press release: HM Courts and Tribunals Service tests fully digital divorce application"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>The pilot scheme means someone who wants a divorce can apply online \u2013 making the process easier to understand and removing some of the stress during a difficult time for families.<\/p>\n<p>Launched last year, the pilot initially allowed people seeking a divorce to use an online system which offers prompts and guidance to assist them in completing their application. They would then print off the form and send it to the court. This month HM Courts &amp; Tribunals Service (HMCTS) has extended the service so that the application is now fully digital \u2013 submitting the form, sending the relevant documents, and payment. In the first week we have received 130 online applications.<\/p>\n<p>The online system has drastically cut the number of applications being returned because of errors \u2013 showing a 90% improvement from paper forms. It has already gained positive feedback from people welcoming the simplified, streamlined and easy to understand system which delivers their application instantly \u2013 without the worry of it being lost in the post.<\/p>\n<p>The next stages will include making the system available for use by legal representatives.<\/p>\n<p>These changes are part of an over \u00a31 billion programme to transform the court system &#8211; making it quicker, more accessible and easier to use for all.<\/p>\n<p>Susan Acland-Hood, CEO of HMCTS, said:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>We are investing over \u00a31 billion to reform and modernise the justice system.<\/p>\n<p class=\"last-child\">These measures are drastically cutting the number of applications returned because of errors \u2013 streamlining the process and ensuring we are best supporting people going through a difficult and often painful time.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Other examples of the government\u2019s court reforms which are making access to justice easier for everyone include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A paperless system, in operation at Lavender Hill Magistrates\u2019 Court, which means thousands of offenders caught dodging fares or using fraudulent tickets can now be punished more swiftly and effectively.<\/li>\n<li>A service which allows people to submit their tax appeals online \u2013 drastically cutting the number of applications being returned as incomplete or inaccurate.<\/li>\n<li>A digital programme which will allow defendants, victims, witnesses and professional users to share legal documents and cases online.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A fully online divorce application process is being tested across England and Wales for the first time.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":8,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[13],"tags":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/88504"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/users\/8"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcomments&post=88504"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/88504\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=88504"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcategories&post=88504"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Ftags&post=88504"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
