{"id":88522,"date":"2018-01-31T09:30:17","date_gmt":"2018-01-31T09:30:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=1d2958bae38407bb7593ec30f33495b8"},"modified":"2018-01-31T09:30:17","modified_gmt":"2018-01-31T09:30:17","slug":"news-story-first-businesses-to-benefit-from-dvsa-transport-scheme-announced","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=88522","title":{"rendered":"News story: First businesses to benefit from DVSA transport scheme announced"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>John Lewis, Sainsbury\u2019s and a district council are among 30 organisations to start benefiting from a new way of recognising safe and responsible vehicle operators.<\/p>\n<p><abbr title=\"Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency\">DVSA<\/abbr> earned recognition for vehicle operators is a new way for organisations with lorries, buses and coaches to prove they meet driver and vehicle standards.<\/p>\n<p>They\u2019ll regularly share performance information with <abbr title=\"Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency\">DVSA<\/abbr>, such as their MOT initial pass rates and if their drivers have broken drivers\u2019 hours rules.<\/p>\n<p>In return, their vehicles are less likely to be stopped for roadside inspections. <abbr title=\"Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency\">DVSA<\/abbr> will still stop vehicles if they\u2019re in an obviously dangerous condition.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"targeting-those-likely-to-be-a-danger-to-your-safety\">Targeting those likely to be a danger to your safety<\/h2>\n<p>From today (31 January 2018), vehicle operators taking part in a pilot of the scheme will no longer have their vehicles routinely stopped at the roadside by <abbr title=\"Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency\">DVSA<\/abbr>.<\/p>\n<p>This will let <abbr title=\"Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency\">DVSA<\/abbr> target its inspections and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/roadside-vehicle-checks-for-commercial-drivers\">roadside checks<\/a> at drivers and vehicles most likely to be a danger to your safety.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"household-names-local-businesses-and-a-local-council\">Household names, local businesses and a local council<\/h2>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/publications\/dvsa-earned-recognition-for-vehicle-operators-list-of-operators-taking-part\">30 private and public sector organisations on the pilot<\/a> are responsible for over 6,000 lorries, buses or coaches.<\/p>\n<p>The organisations include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>British Telecommunications<\/li>\n<li>the City of Wakefield metropolitan district council<\/li>\n<li>CT Plus &#8211; a social enterprise<\/li>\n<li>DPD Group<\/li>\n<li>John Lewis<\/li>\n<li>Sainsbury\u2019s<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>They\u2019re all different sizes &#8211; the smallest having 2 vehicles, with the largest having more than 3,500 vehicles.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"helping-responsible-businesses\">Helping responsible businesses<\/h2>\n<p>The scheme is being designed to help safe and responsible businesses go about their business unhindered, which will save them time and money.<\/p>\n<p>It also means <abbr title=\"Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency\">DVSA<\/abbr> can spend more time taking unsafe drivers and vehicles off our roads.<\/p>\n<h3 id=\"theres-still-time-for-operators-to-join-the-pilot\">There\u2019s still time for operators to join the pilot<\/h3>\n<p>Vehicle operators can <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/guidance\/dvsa-earned-recognition-for-vehicle-operators-join-the-pilot\">apply to join the <abbr title=\"Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency\">DVSA<\/abbr> earned recognition pilot<\/a> until 28 February 2018.
