{"id":88669,"date":"2018-02-05T11:52:04","date_gmt":"2018-02-05T11:52:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=cf796dedab90c1dc4eafeb875e72295c"},"modified":"2018-02-05T11:52:04","modified_gmt":"2018-02-05T11:52:04","slug":"news-story-treating-organic-rich-water-for-home-supply-apply-for-funding","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=88669","title":{"rendered":"News story: Treating organic-rich water for home supply: apply for funding"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p><a rel=\"external\" href=\"http:\/\/www.scottishwater.co.uk\/\">Scottish Water<\/a>, supported by the <a rel=\"external\" href=\"https:\/\/www.scottish-enterprise.com\/knowledge-hub\/articles\/insight\/can-do-innovation-challenge-fund\">Can Do Innovation Challenge Fund<\/a>, has up to \u00a3450,000 to invest in projects that explore ways of turning high-organic surface waters into drinking water that meets regulations.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"sustainable-and-safe-provision-of-water\">Sustainable and safe provision of water<\/h2>\n<p>Scotland has more than 10,000 water supplies that serve only one home and another 20,000 that serve populations of fewer than 50 people.<\/p>\n<p>Its rivers often have high or variable levels of organic matter, and there is no effective point-of-use water treatment on the market capable of treating it.<\/p>\n<p>Reliable point-of-use treatment systems are essential for long-term sustainability and provision of wholesome drinking water.<\/p>\n<p>Funding for the competition is under SBRI (Small Business Research Initiative).<\/p>\n<div class=\"call-to-action\">\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/collections\/sbri-the-small-business-research-initiative\">Find out more about SBRI and how it works.<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h2 id=\"systems-must-be-simple-to-operate-and-maintain\">Systems must be simple to operate and maintain<\/h2>\n<p>Scottish Water is seeking ideas for water treatment systems that could supply rural, dispersed and remote island communities and also work for private supplies.<\/p>\n<p>Solutions must be easy for the general public to maintain and operate. They must also:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>meet quality standards<\/li>\n<li>be affordable<\/li>\n<li>recycle rain and grey water<\/li>\n<li>provide a complete treatment from source to tap<\/li>\n<li>be automated<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Up to \u00a3150,000 is available to fund feasibility studies in a first phase.
