{"id":88829,"date":"2018-02-07T21:54:45","date_gmt":"2018-02-07T21:54:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=f5564c737748ac13098d3b132e91e071"},"modified":"2018-02-07T21:54:45","modified_gmt":"2018-02-07T21:54:45","slug":"news-story-counter-terror-policing-awarded-funds-for-parsons-green-response","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=88829","title":{"rendered":"News story: Counter-terror policing awarded funds for Parsons Green response"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>This move comes in addition to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/news\/multi-million-pound-boost-for-counter-terrorism-policing\">\u00a324 million of new money for this financial year already announced<\/a> for the forces across the country that responded to the other attacks in London and Manchester in 2017.<\/p>\n<p>The Minister for Policing, Nick Hurd announced the funding as the 2018\/19 police funding settlement was debated in Parliament.<\/p>\n<p>He said:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>The tragedy of 5 terrorist attacks in 2017 has sadly reinforced the threat we face from terrorism so it is right that we are increasing funding for counter-terrorism policing both this year and next.<\/p>\n<p>In September we announced \u00a324 million of new money this year going to forces across the country to meet the costs relating to the tragic terror attacks.<\/p>\n<p class=\"last-child\">I am also pleased to confirm that the Government has agreed to provide a further \u00a34 million this year to meet the costs arising from the attack at Parsons Green.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Separately, in recognition of the unprecedented terrorist threat we currently face, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/news\/police-funding-increases-by-450-million-in-2018\">the government announced in December a \u00a350 million increase to counter terrorism policing budget<\/a> for next year. This brings the budget to \u00a3757 million and will help ensure counter-terrorism policing has the resources it needs to respond and keep people safe.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/publications\/spending-review-and-autumn-statement-2015-documents\/spending-review-and-autumn-statement-2015#protecting-britains-national-security-1\">The government has already committed to increase spending on counter-terrorism<\/a> by 30% over five years from \u00a311.7 billion to \u00a315.1 billion and has also provided \u00a3144 million over the spending review period for a national uplift in armed policing capability and funding for an additional 1,900 officers at the security and intelligence agencies.<\/p>\n<p>It is also reviewing its counter-terrorism strategy CONTEST to ensure that the government is responding to the threat from terrorism both now and in the future.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Counter-terrorism police will receive an additional \u00a34 million this year to cover the costs arising from the Parsons Green attack.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":8,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[13],"tags":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/88829"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/users\/8"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcomments&post=88829"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/88829\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=88829"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcategories&post=88829"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Ftags&post=88829"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
