{"id":89506,"date":"2018-03-01T13:58:48","date_gmt":"2018-03-01T13:58:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=e7b462e04d15c2b9aeaa77cc2a629fae"},"modified":"2018-03-01T13:58:48","modified_gmt":"2018-03-01T13:58:48","slug":"news-story-launch-of-secondment-opportunities-for-competition-lawyers-at-the-cma","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=89506","title":{"rendered":"News story: Launch of secondment opportunities for competition lawyers at the CMA"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>The Competition and Markets Authority (<abbr title=\"Competition and Markets Authority\">CMA<\/abbr>) is the UK\u2019s lead competition and consumer authority.<\/p>\n<p>The new programme will offer an exciting and invaluable opportunity for firms and associates alike:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The programme will encompass work across all of the <abbr title=\"Competition and Markets Authority\">CMA<\/abbr>\u2019s competition law functions, and is designed to offer a structured insight into the workings of the <abbr title=\"Competition and Markets Authority\">CMA<\/abbr>.<\/li>\n<li>Secondees will have the opportunity to work within one or more of the <abbr title=\"Competition and Markets Authority\">CMA<\/abbr>\u2019s Legal Service, Phase 1 merger, Competition Act and Policy functions, under the supervision of senior <abbr title=\"Competition and Markets Authority\">CMA<\/abbr> lawyers.<\/li>\n<li>Secondees will form an integral part of the <abbr title=\"Competition and Markets Authority\">CMA<\/abbr>\u2019s multi-disciplinary teams and have the opportunity to play a key role in delivering the <abbr title=\"Competition and Markets Authority\">CMA<\/abbr>\u2019s aims and strategic goals through casework or wider legal and policy work.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The secondments are open to all qualified lawyers with previous experience working on mergers or Competition Act cases. The <abbr title=\"Competition and Markets Authority\">CMA<\/abbr> aims to offer secondees a range of work suitable for their level of experience and to provide training as part of the role.<\/p>\n<p>The secondments will last for a minimum of 6 months, with the first intake starting in early June 2018. The <abbr title=\"Competition and Markets Authority\">CMA<\/abbr> intends to offer two intakes annually on a rolling basis.<\/p>\n<p>The <abbr title=\"Competition and Markets Authority\">CMA<\/abbr> will contribute a flat rate to the cost of secondees. As part of the cover letter, each candidate should express any preference for exposure to particular types of work within the <abbr title=\"Competition and Markets Authority\">CMA<\/abbr>, and confirm that they are able to spend a minimum of six months at the <abbr title=\"Competition and Markets Authority\">CMA<\/abbr>.
