{"id":89711,"date":"2018-03-08T09:00:13","date_gmt":"2018-03-08T09:00:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=05105cbd74c5066d7ad7c3422edf4658"},"modified":"2018-03-08T09:00:13","modified_gmt":"2018-03-08T09:00:13","slug":"news-story-450000-of-hs2-government-funding-to-deliver-woodland-hub-for-communities-in-heart-of-buckinghamshire","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=89711","title":{"rendered":"News story: \u00a3450,000 of HS2 government funding to deliver woodland hub for communities in heart of Buckinghamshire"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<div class=\"call-to-action\">\n<ul>\n<li>\n<abbr title=\"High Speed Two\">HS2<\/abbr> Minister Nusrat Ghani announces \u00a3450,000 grant for Wendover Woods Recreational Development project near Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire<\/li>\n<li>Minister Ghani visits site today (8 March 2018) to see how it will benefit from a share of \u00a340 million <abbr title=\"High Speed Two\">HS2<\/abbr> Phase One Community and Environment Fund<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p>Plans for a new woodland hub with an adventure trail, caf\u00e9 and parking for 600 visitors at Wendover Woods have been made possible thanks to a \u00a3450,000 government grant, <abbr title=\"High Speed Two\">HS2<\/abbr> Minister Nusrat Ghani announced on a visit to the area in Buckinghamshire today (8 March 2018).<\/p>\n<p>Ms Ghani visited the Wendover Woods recreational development project near Aylesbury to see plans for a \u00a34.45 million redevelopment of the site, one of the largest areas of publically accessible open spaces in the region.<br \/>\nThe \u00a3450,000 grant is the largest funding award given to any single project so far from a \u00a340 million <abbr title=\"High Speed Two\">HS2<\/abbr> Phase One Community and Environment Fund (<abbr title=\"Community and Environment Fund\">CEF<\/abbr>) and Business and Local Economy Fund (<abbr title=\"Business and Local Economy Fund\">BLEF<\/abbr>).<\/p>\n<div class=\"call-to-action\">\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/guidance\/hs2-phase-one-how-to-apply-for-community-and-business-funds\">Apply for the <abbr title=\"High Speed Two\">HS2<\/abbr> Phase One Community and Environment Fund and Business and Local Economy Fund<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Nusrat Ghani, <abbr title=\"High Speed Two\">HS2<\/abbr> Minister, said:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><abbr title=\"High Speed Two\">HS2<\/abbr> will be the backbone of our national rail network \u2013 supporting growth and regeneration and helping us build a Britain fit for the future. Whilst we know there will be disruption as we deliver one of Europe\u2019s biggest infrastructure projects, we are absolutely committed to minimising the effects of building the new railway.<\/p>\n<p class=\"last-child\">It is great to see so many exciting local projects such as the Wendover Woods recreational development project benefit from this fund, helping even more people access and enjoy our beautiful countryside. Funding such as <abbr title=\"Community and Environment Fund\">CEF<\/abbr> and <abbr title=\"Business and Local Economy Fund\">BLEF<\/abbr> will help to ensure that the legacy of <abbr title=\"High Speed Two\">HS2<\/abbr> is shared by everyone for generations to come.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The funds were established to support a diverse range of projects, from refurbishing community centres, nature conservation and measures to drive jobs and local economies, along <abbr title=\"High Speed Two\">HS2<\/abbr>\u2019s route from London to the West Midlands. A further \u00a35 million has also been made available to help communities along the <abbr title=\"High Speed Two\">HS2<\/abbr> Phase 2a route from the West Midlands to Crewe, bringing the total available funding to \u00a345 million.<\/p>\n<p>The first round of funding in January, announced by the minister during a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/news\/community-projects-to-benefit-from-45-million-of-hs2-government-funding\">visit to Crewe<\/a>, gave more than \u00a3245,000 of grants. These include funding for the renovation of Steeple Claydon Methodist Church in Buckinghamshire, helping a pre-school in Northamptonshire build their first playground and setting up schemes in Camden to engage residents in environmental and health issues.<\/p>\n<p>Cathy Elliott, independent chair of <abbr title=\"Community and Environment Fund\">CEF<\/abbr> and <abbr title=\"Business and Local Economy Fund\">BLEF<\/abbr> said:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"last-child\">This latest round of funding is another milestone for us and I\u2019m delighted to be showcasing the Wendover Woods recreational development project to demonstrate how this money can benefit communities along the line of route for many years to come. More funding is available for eligible applicants throughout the construction of <abbr title=\"High Speed Two\">HS2<\/abbr> Phase One and we look forward to announcing many more funded local projects in the future.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Joanne Mason from the Forestry Commission said:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"last-child\">Wendover Woods is a hugely popular recreation resource for families living across the Chilterns and further afield. This grant from the <abbr title=\"High Speed Two\">HS2<\/abbr> <abbr title=\"Community and Environment Fund\">CEF<\/abbr> fund will enable much needed new toilets, seating and expanded caf\u00e9 facilities to be established ensuring that the forest can continue to be enjoyed by future generations.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><abbr title=\"High Speed Two\">HS2<\/abbr> Ltd chief executive Mark Thurston said:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>As we deliver <abbr title=\"High Speed Two\">HS2<\/abbr>, we have the opportunity to leave a positive legacy for the communities along the route of the railway. Our Community and Environment Fund, and its twin Business Fund, are starting to support important local initiatives, including building renovations and environmental projects.
