The report, Culture is Digital, follows a Digital Culture project launched in April 2017 by the Secretary of State for <abbr title=\"Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport\">DCMS<\/abbr>, Matt Hancock with the <a rel=\"external\" href=\"https:\/\/cultureisdigital.dialogue-app.com\/\">#CultureisDigital<\/a> online consultation.<\/p>\n<p>That project focused on three areas:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>driving audience engagement<\/li>\n<li>unleashing the creative potential of technology in the cultural sector<\/li>\n<li>boosting the capability of cultural organisations<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The capability area identified that there are intellectual property (<abbr title=\"Intellectual Property\">IP<\/abbr>) skills gaps in the cultural sector when creating digital content such as digital art installations in galleries or dance performances streamed online.<\/p>\n<p>This lack of expertise limits the content makers\u2019 ability to create and exploit digital content. To help address these gaps, the Intellectual Property Office (<abbr title=\"Intellectual Property Office\">IPO<\/abbr>) have included two commitments in the new report:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p>the <abbr title=\"Intellectual Property Office\">IPO<\/abbr> will work with the British Library\u2019s Business and Intellectual Property Centres (BIPCs) and representatives from the cultural sector to develop guidance and training. This will help cultural organisations better understand the <abbr title=\"Intellectual Property\">IP<\/abbr> framework and its relevance to them.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>the space helps artists and organisations make great art and reach new audiences digitally.
