{"id":90191,"date":"2018-03-20T13:41:45","date_gmt":"2018-03-20T13:41:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=ee675807fb986227135fbece2a0d4068"},"modified":"2018-03-20T13:41:45","modified_gmt":"2018-03-20T13:41:45","slug":"press-release-new-funding-scheme-to-improve-lakes-and-rivers-in-england","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=90191","title":{"rendered":"Press release: New funding scheme to improve lakes and rivers in England"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>A new \u00a327 million scheme to improve the water environment across England has been jointly launched today by Defra, Natural England and the Environment Agency.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/publications\/water-environment-grant-weg-handbooks-guidance-and-forms\">Water Environment Grant scheme<\/a> will provide \u00a39 million each year over the next three years to applicants applying for funding to restore local eco-systems and deliver substantial benefits to people and the environment.<\/p>\n<p>Potential projects could include river restoration activities, removal of obstacles to help fish moving along rivers and streams or actions to improve the water quality.<\/p>\n<p>Environment Minister Th\u00e9r\u00e8se Coffey said:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"last-child\">The Water Environment Grant scheme offers a fantastic opportunity for applicants from across the country to secure funding for projects to enhance the environment, boost wildlife and benefit their rural community.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"last-child\">This project will help us to deliver a balanced programme of environmental improvements across England and I am looking forward to seeing the creative and innovative projects of the applicants.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The scheme, funded by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development, will award grants to non-profit ventures with greater support for projects which enhance water eco-systems.<\/p>\n<p>WEG is now open to eligible applicants until 11 May 2018.
