{"id":90246,"date":"2018-03-21T17:18:41","date_gmt":"2018-03-21T17:18:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=50027be87d706868c7afaea6da2aa519"},"modified":"2018-03-21T17:18:41","modified_gmt":"2018-03-21T17:18:41","slug":"news-story-new-gp-contract-agreed-for-2018-to-2019","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=90246","title":{"rendered":"News story: New GP contract agreed for 2018 to 2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>The contract was agreed by the Department of Health and Social Care (<abbr title=\"Department of Health and Social Care\">DHSC<\/abbr>), NHS Employers on behalf of NHS England and the British Medical Association\u2019s General Practitioners Committee (<abbr title=\"General Practitioners Committee\">GPC<\/abbr>).<\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"external\" href=\"http:\/\/www.nhsemployers.org\/GMS201819\">The deal<\/a> includes a pay uplift, together with a 3% increase to expense claims, totalling \u00a3102.9 million.<\/p>\n<p>The investment also includes \u00a360 million to cover increased indemnity costs incurred in the past financial year.<\/p>\n<p>The contract will come into effect on 1 April 2018.<\/p>\n<p>The contract also includes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p>an agreement that will pave the way to <abbr title=\"general practitioners\">GPs<\/abbr> using the NHS electronic prescription service instead of issuing paper prescriptions<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>an agreement that <abbr title=\"General Practitioners Committee\">GPC<\/abbr>, NHS England and <abbr title=\"Department of Health and Social Care\">DHSC<\/abbr> will work together to reduce the administrative burden in general practice so that <abbr title=\"general practitioners\">GPs<\/abbr> can spend more time with patients<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>a renewed focus on the analysis of appointment data to improve <abbr title=\"general practitioner\">GP<\/abbr> workflows<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>supporting the further roll out of the NHS e-referral service into general practice<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>an agreement with the <abbr title=\"General Practitioners Committee\">GPC<\/abbr> to work with <abbr title=\"Department of Health and Social Care\">DHSC<\/abbr> and NHS England to establish the extent and reasons behind locum use and cost<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>a commitment to end advertising of private services by <abbr title=\"general practitioner\">GP<\/abbr> practices which should be provided free of charge by the NHS<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The new contract will see a \u00a3256 million investment in general practice.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":8,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[13],"tags":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/90246"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/users\/8"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcomments&post=90246"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/90246\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=90246"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcategories&post=90246"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Ftags&post=90246"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
