{"id":91447,"date":"2018-04-27T08:53:37","date_gmt":"2018-04-27T08:53:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=3c63642e7e942ff67dd5db3613da9ede"},"modified":"2018-04-27T08:53:37","modified_gmt":"2018-04-27T08:53:37","slug":"news-story-meeting-of-the-australia-uk-trade-working-group","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=91447","title":{"rendered":"News story: Meeting of the Australia-UK Trade Working Group"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>The Australia-UK Trade Working Group met in Canberra on 19 to 20 April 2018.<\/p>\n<p>It was the third meeting of the Trade Working Group since it was established in September 2016 by:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>the Hon Steven Ciobo MP, Australia\u2019s Minister for Trade, Tourism, and Investment<\/li>\n<li>the Rt Hon Dr Liam Fox MP, the United Kingdom\u2019s Secretary of State for International Trade and President of the Board of Trade<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The meeting brought together senior officials to identify practical steps Australia and the UK can take to deepen their existing trade and investment relationship.<\/p>\n<p>The delegations were led by officials from:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>the UK\u2019s Department of International Trade (<abbr title=\"Department for International Trade, UK\">DIT<\/abbr>)<\/li>\n<li>Australia\u2019s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (<abbr title=\"Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Australia\">DFAT<\/abbr>)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>They included representatives from a wide range of UK and Australian government departments.<\/p>\n<p>The Trade Working Group continued to build momentum towards the shared commitment to begin bilateral <abbr title=\"Free Trade Agreement\">FTA<\/abbr> negotiations once the UK leaves the European Union.<\/p>\n<p>Discussions covered a range of topics to help build a shared understanding of both countries\u2019 approaches and ambitions for the future bilateral trade and investment relationship.<\/p>\n<p>The Trade Working Group also discussed broader trade policy issues of mutual interest, including World Trade Organization processes and the wider regional and plurilateral trade landscape.<\/p>\n<p>The Trade Working Group reflects a strong political commitment by Australia and the UK to take a leadership role in the global rules-based multilateral trading system.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Joint statement from the latest working group meeting in Canberra, Australia, to discuss trade between the UK and Australia.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":8,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[13],"tags":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/91447"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/users\/8"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcomments&post=91447"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/91447\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=91447"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcategories&post=91447"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Ftags&post=91447"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
