The Committee on Radioactive Waste Management (<abbr title=\"Committee on Radioactive Waste Management\">CoRWM<\/abbr>) has now published its responses to these consultations on the gov.uk website.<\/p>\n<p>The 3 policy documents and <abbr title=\"Committee on Radioactive Waste Management\">CoRWM<\/abbr>\u2019s responses are as follows:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/consultations\/working-with-communities-implementing-geological-disposal\">Working with communities: implementing geological disposal<\/a> from the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (<abbr title=\"Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy\">BEIS<\/abbr>) and the Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs (<abbr title=\"Department of Agriculture, Environment and Rural Affairs\">DAERA<\/abbr>) in Northern Ireland. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/publications\/corwm-consultation-response-to-beis-and-daera-on-working-with-communities-implementing-geological-disposal\"><abbr title=\"Committee on Radioactive Waste Management\">CoRWM<\/abbr>\u2019s response<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><a rel=\"external\" href=\"https:\/\/beta.gov.wales\/geological-disposal-radioactive-waste\">Geological disposal of radioactive waste<\/a>, the Welsh Government equivalent to \u2018Working with communities: implementing geological disposal\u2019. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/publications\/corwm-response-to-welsh-government-consultation-on-geological-disposal-of-radioactive-waste-working-with-communities\"><abbr title=\"Committee on Radioactive Waste Management\">CoRWM<\/abbr>\u2019s response<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/consultations\/national-policy-statement-for-geological-disposal-infrastructure\">National policy statement for geological disposal infrastructure<\/a>, a framework for the Secretary of State and the Planning Inspectorate to consider applications on development consent for geological disposal infrastructure in England &#8211; produced by <abbr title=\"Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy\">BEIS<\/abbr>.  <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/publications\/corwm-consultation-response-to-beis-on-the-draft-national-policy-statement-on-geological-disposal-infrastructure\"><abbr title=\"Committee on Radioactive Waste Management\">CoRWM<\/abbr>\u2019s response<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2 id=\"background\">Background<\/h2>\n<p>The 2014 white paper <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/publications\/implementing-geological-disposal\">Implementing Geological Disposal<\/a> set out the actions and roadmap for development of these policy documents.<\/p>\n<p><abbr title=\"Committee on Radioactive Waste Management\">CoRWM<\/abbr> developed its responses through:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>subgroup meetings.<\/li>\n<li>members\u2019 attendance at 7 consultation workshops held by <abbr title=\"Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy\">BEIS<\/abbr>\n<\/li>\n<li>correspondence within the committee.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><abbr title=\"Committee on Radioactive Waste Management\">CoRWM<\/abbr> finalised its response at a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/news\/corwm-plenary-meeting-dates-and-locations-2018\">plenary meeting<\/a> in March.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>CoRWM has submitted responses to 3 consultations on key GDF policy.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":8,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[13],"tags":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/91466"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/users\/8"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcomments&post=91466"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/91466\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=91466"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcategories&post=91466"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Ftags&post=91466"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
