These discussions can last for a number of weeks. Once the <abbr title=\"Competition and Markets Authority\">CMA<\/abbr>\u2019s formal investigation begins, an initial, \u2018Phase 1\u2019 review then runs for up to 40 working days.<\/p>\n<p>During a Phase 1 review, the <abbr title=\"Competition and Markets Authority\">CMA<\/abbr> would assess whether the deal could reduce competition and choice for shoppers.
