{"id":91910,"date":"2018-05-15T12:47:53","date_gmt":"2018-05-15T12:47:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=f4b56f04c45ce9ed6a914fde2e91eab6"},"modified":"2018-05-15T12:47:53","modified_gmt":"2018-05-15T12:47:53","slug":"press-release-attacker-jailed-following-solicitor-generals-referral","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=91910","title":{"rendered":"Press release: Attacker jailed following Solicitor General\u2019s referral"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>A man who attacked a woman in her own home has been sent to prison after the Solicitor General, Robert Buckland QC MP, referred his original sentence for being too low.<\/p>\n<p>Steven Ridings, 55, attacked, forcibly restrained, and threatened to kill the victim with kitchen knives.<\/p>\n<p>Ridings was originally sentenced to 12 months\u2019 imprisonment suspended for 2 years at Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court. He was also required to fulfil rehabilitation and unpaid work requirements, and a restraining order was made.<\/p>\n<p>Today, after the Solicitor General\u2019s reference, the Court of Appeal increased his sentence to 21 months in prison.<\/p>\n<p>Commenting on the sentence increase, the Solicitor General said:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"last-child\">I am pleased that the Court of Appeal has agreed with my referral and sentenced Mr Ridings\u2019 to immediate custody.
