{"id":92362,"date":"2018-05-29T14:38:21","date_gmt":"2018-05-29T14:38:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=1b6b76dc51d6ccdcb0a8302e6c4b2292"},"modified":"2018-05-29T14:38:21","modified_gmt":"2018-05-29T14:38:21","slug":"news-story-recreational-anglers-charged-for-breaching-bass-regulations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=92362","title":{"rendered":"News story: Recreational anglers charged for breaching bass regulations"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>Recreational anglers Roshid Ahmed and Suna Miah appeared at Southend Magistrates Court on 16 May 2018 in a prosecution brought by the <abbr title=\"Marine Management Organisation\">MMO<\/abbr>.<\/p>\n<p>The court heard how both men were observed fishing for bass on Southend Pier on 29 August 2016. The bass and both men\u2019s passes to fish on Southend Pier were seized. Kent and Essex Inshore Fisheries and Conservation Authority collected and measured the fish and in total there were 68 bass retained by the two anglers, all of which were below the minimum conservation reference size of 42cm in length. The details of this were then reported to the <abbr title=\"Marine Management Organisation\">MMO<\/abbr> for investigation.<\/p>\n<p>Both defendants pleaded guilty and offered an apology to the court stating that they were unaware of the bass regulations at the time of the offending but understand the rules currently in place.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Miah was given a six month conditional discharge and ordered to pay \u00a3300 costs and a \u00a320 victim surcharge.
