{"id":92496,"date":"2018-06-04T11:30:29","date_gmt":"2018-06-04T11:30:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=c9436e880eaa0de8603fcf8a793c9ef0"},"modified":"2018-06-04T11:30:29","modified_gmt":"2018-06-04T11:30:29","slug":"news-story-soldiers-begin-training-on-first-sports-facility-delivered-for-army-basing-programme","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=92496","title":{"rendered":"News story: Soldiers begin training on first sports facility delivered for Army Basing Programme"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>Soldiers at Perham Down are benefitting from a new sports facility, which has been delivered by Aspire Defence for the Ministry of Defence\u2019s (<abbr title=\"Ministry of Defence\u2019s\">MOD<\/abbr>) Army Basing Programme (<abbr title=\"Army Basing Programme\">ABP<\/abbr>).<\/p>\n<p>The <abbr title=\"Army Basing Programme\">ABP<\/abbr> is a joint army and Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) programme, which is providing the facilities the British Army needs to live, work and train in the UK as it returns from Germany, rebases across the UK and restructures to its future Army 2020 formations.<\/p>\n<p>Providing quality physical training facilities supports the army\u2019s commitment to training and sport.  Alongside sports facilities, the <abbr title=\"Army Basing Programme\">ABP<\/abbr> will also deliver modern, purpose built single living and working accommodation for soldiers, from dining facilities and offices to vehicle garaging, stores and technical buildings.<\/p>\n<p>The new pitch was constructed by Aspire Defence Capital Works (<abbr title=\"Aspire Defence Capital Works\">ADCW<\/abbr>) and is just one of many essential assets being delivered at Perham Down.  A Regimental Headquarters, several Junior Ranks\u2019 single living accommodation (<abbr title=\"single living accommodation\">SLA<\/abbr>) blocks and an Officers\u2019 <abbr title=\"single living accommodation\">SLA<\/abbr> block have already been handed over.  An Officers\u2019 Mess and gym are currently under construction.<\/p>\n<p>Rhod McGregor, Project Director TidNBul (<abbr title=\"Aspire Defence Capital Works\">ADCW<\/abbr>), said:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"last-child\">We\u2019re very pleased to hand over this pitch as part of our wider delivery of <abbr title=\"Army Basing Programme\">ABP<\/abbr> infrastructure at Perham Down.  We continue to maintain an efficient pace of build progress across all our construction sites, to ensure we deliver the right assets at the right time for the army.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>All <abbr title=\"Army Basing Programme\">ABP<\/abbr> infrastructure across Salisbury Plain Training Area (<abbr title=\"Salisbury Plain Training Area\">SPTA<\/abbr>) and at Aldershot is being delivered under Aspire Defence\u2019s 35 year Project Allenby\/Connaught (<abbr title=\"Project Allenby\/Connaught\">PAC<\/abbr>) contract, held with the <abbr title=\"Ministry of Defence\u2019s\">MOD<\/abbr> since 2006.<\/p>\n<p>Mark Duddy, <abbr title=\"Army Basing Programme\">ABP<\/abbr> Programme Director, said:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"last-child\">As we near peak <abbr title=\"Army Basing Programme\">ABP<\/abbr> construction phase this summer, we\u2019re delighted with the high standard of accommodation being delivered for soldiers across <abbr title=\"Salisbury Plain Training Area\">SPTA<\/abbr>.
