{"id":92711,"date":"2018-06-11T11:30:04","date_gmt":"2018-06-11T11:30:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=362fcf6775aa8ede1a26923fb2e0d8d0"},"modified":"2018-06-11T11:30:04","modified_gmt":"2018-06-11T11:30:04","slug":"news-story-transforming-public-services-in-scotland-apply-for-funding","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=92711","title":{"rendered":"News story: Transforming public services in Scotland: apply for funding"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>Public sector organisations in Scotland have challenged innovators to come up with digital solutions to some of the most pressing issues they face today.<\/p>\n<p>These challenges have been issued by the <a rel=\"external\" href=\"http:\/\/www.gov.scot\/digitalscotland\/\">Scottish Government Digital Directorate<\/a> in its <a rel=\"external\" href=\"https:\/\/civtech.atlassian.net\/wiki\/spaces\/CIV\/overview\">CivTech programme<\/a>, which brings together public and private sectors to solve problems with new products and better services.<\/p>\n<p>Organisations could win contracts that are ultimately worth up to \u00a3250,000 with their ideas for using technology.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"improving-services-and-experiences\">Improving services and experiences<\/h2>\n<p>The challenges announced are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p><a rel=\"external\" href=\"https:\/\/www.saitg.scot\/\">Scottish Anti-Illicit Trade Group<\/a> is looking at how tech can stop illicit trading. The group is seeking ideas for using data to identify or predict trade in counterfeit and dangerous products at a community level<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><a rel=\"external\" href=\"https:\/\/www.glasgow.gov.uk\/\">Glasgow City Council<\/a> wants to better connect people and places and address social isolation. Ideas should address how public transport could improve access to services, learning opportunities and employment<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><a rel=\"external\" href=\"http:\/\/www.stirling.gov.uk\/\">Stirling Council<\/a> is seeking ways of using technology to better understanding investment requirements for public buildings &#8211; including repairs, maintenance and property investment &#8211; to improve services<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><a rel=\"external\" href=\"https:\/\/www.scottishhousingregulator.gov.uk\/\">Scottish Housing Regulator<\/a> is inviting ideas to increase standards in social rented housing and give tenants a stronger voice in the services they pay for through the use of data<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><a rel=\"external\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nature.scot\/\">Scottish Natural Heritage<\/a> wants to use tech to enhance the experience of young people with the outdoor environment in Scotland<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p><a rel=\"external\" href=\"https:\/\/nhsnss.org\/\">NHS National Services Scotland<\/a> wants to review how it manages single-use medical products and pharmaceuticals, as well as other medical devices, which could potentially be re-manufactured and re-used<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>NHS National Services Scotland is also inviting ideas to make the NHS waiting time system more efficient and effective<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Scottish Government Digital Directorate wants to support employee engagement by improving how they monitor staff satisfaction, happiness and wellbeing<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Scottish Government Digital Planning is looking at how it can develop a world-leading planning system, specifically how technology and data might improve the quality and reach of public engagement<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Young Scot wants to empower young people in their access of technology by ensuring their rights online and off<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Funding for the competition is under SBRI (the Small Business research Initiative).<\/p>\n<div class=\"call-to-action\">\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/collections\/sbri-the-small-business-research-initiative\">Learn about SBRI and how it works.<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h2 id=\"competition-information\">Competition information<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>the competition opens on 11 June 2018, and the deadline for applications is at 9 am on 2 July 2018<\/li>\n<li>it is open to any organisation that can demonstrate a route to market for its idea<\/li>\n<li>up to 3 contracts of \u00a33,000 will be awarded to initially explore each challenge area<\/li>\n<li>a contract of up to \u00a320,000 will then be awarded to develop the most promising idea within each challenge.
