{"id":92869,"date":"2018-06-15T13:27:38","date_gmt":"2018-06-15T13:27:38","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=b05f225a53696493ed02af570f15eca4"},"modified":"2018-06-15T13:27:38","modified_gmt":"2018-06-15T13:27:38","slug":"news-story-dstl-forensic-experts-put-revenge-plotter-behind-bars","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=92869","title":{"rendered":"News story: Dstl forensic experts put &#8216;revenge plotter&#8217; behind bars"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>Specialists at the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (Dstl) provided detailed evidence and expert witness statements in the trial of a man who plotted to harm police officers in West Yorkshire.<\/p>\n<p>Ashkan Ebrahami, 33, was sentenced on Tuesday after being found guilty of possessing explosives with intent to endanger life, possession on an offensive weapon, possession of a bladed article in a public place and stalking offences.<br \/>\nA spokesperson for Dstl\u2019s Forensic Explosive Laboratory said:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>The case related to a number of documents pertaining to the manufacture of explosives, as well as a quantity of precursor chemicals which could be used to manufacture explosives.<\/p>\n<p class=\"last-child\">The main evidence for this case was prepared by one of FEL\u2019s Principal Case Officers.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>A jury at Bradford Crown Court heard how Ebrahimi became obsessed with revenge against the authorities after he was issued with a non-molestation order against his former partner by a judge in the county court and was subsequently separated from his young child.<br \/>\nEbrahimi targeted police officers and a judge after he became obsessed with \u201climitless revenge\u201d against authority figures.<br \/>\nA police spokesman said:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>The effects of this action sowed the seeds of a deep hatred of the police that grew exponentially from that moment.<\/p>\n<p class=\"last-child\">He believed that the police were committed to destroying his life and set about seeking to take extreme violent action against them.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>He said Ebrahimi was arrested in October 2015 after concerns were raised by Calderdale College about his unusual interest in chemicals and wanting to develop a science lab at home.<br \/>\nHe developed a deep-seated and consuming hatred and loathing for people in authority, in the main police officers, and set about research and planning his limitless revenge against them.<br \/>\nA large amount of chemicals were also recovered from Ebrahimi\u2019s address, along with an extensive collection of weapons including knives, swords, crossbows and high-powered air rifles, the spokesman said.<br \/>\nEbrahimi had 90 videos saved that related to the creation of explosives, fuses, detonators and gunpowder.<br \/>\nDetective Chief Inspector Warren Stevenson said:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"last-child\">Ebrahimi is a very dangerous individual who posed a significant and very serious threat to police officers, police staff, solicitors and the judiciary.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Specialists at the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory provide evidence which secured conviction in West Yorkshire &#8216;revenge&#8217; case<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":8,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[13],"tags":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/92869"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/users\/8"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcomments&post=92869"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=\/wp\/v2\/posts\/92869\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fmedia&parent=92869"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Fcategories&post=92869"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/index.php?rest_route=%2Fwp%2Fv2%2Ftags&post=92869"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
