{"id":93342,"date":"2018-06-28T09:16:00","date_gmt":"2018-06-28T09:16:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=44bad1f658bf4a04c8969ce661263bc9"},"modified":"2018-06-28T09:16:00","modified_gmt":"2018-06-28T09:16:00","slug":"news-story-new-animal-and-plant-health-agency-veterinary-director-appointed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=93342","title":{"rendered":"News story: New Animal and Plant Health Agency Veterinary Director appointed"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>The appointment follows the competitive recruitment process for the post after Simon Hall, the former Veterinary Director, moved to the position of <abbr title=\"Animal and Plant Health Agency\">APHA<\/abbr> Director for EU Exit and Trade earlier this year (2018).<\/p>\n<p>Speaking about his appointment, Andrew said:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"last-child\">I\u2019m delighted and honoured to be asked to take up the role of Veterinary Director. I look forward to the joys and challenges that this will bring and to working with many across the agency to help ensure we provide excellent veterinary and technical expertise to our customers and stakeholders.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Chris Hadkiss, Chief Executive for <abbr title=\"Animal and Plant Health Agency\">APHA<\/abbr>, said:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"last-child\">Andrew brings with him a wealth of corporate knowledge about the agency and <abbr title=\"Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs\">Defra<\/abbr>, and a variety of<br \/>\nexperience from his roles leading the agency\u2019s commercial services (<abbr title=\"Animal and Plant Health Agency\">APHA<\/abbr> Scientific), and in previous years,<br \/>\nlaboratory services. He also led the project for the launch of <abbr title=\"Animal and Plant Health Agency\">APHA<\/abbr> when our plant and bee health teams moved from <abbr title=\"The Food and Environment Research Agency\">Fera<\/abbr> to join the former Animal Health and Veterinary Laboratories Agency back in 2014.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Andrew first joined the agency in February 1999. His previous roles in the agency include: Head of <abbr title=\"Animal and Plant Health Agency\">APHA<\/abbr> Scientific; Head of Laboratory Testing and International Trade Programme Manager.<\/p>\n<p>Before this, Andrew worked as a Veterinary Investigation Officer in the former Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, and as a private veterinary surgeon in Devon and York.
