{"id":93566,"date":"2018-07-04T13:39:00","date_gmt":"2018-07-04T13:39:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=b4d26c14f8c3e320b6827eac1f3aab23"},"modified":"2018-07-04T13:39:00","modified_gmt":"2018-07-04T13:39:00","slug":"press-release-hs2-ltd-to-undertake-development-works-for-electrification-of-the-midland-main-line-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=93566","title":{"rendered":"Press release: HS2 Ltd to undertake development works for electrification of the Midland Main Line"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>Following the government\u2019s announcement last summer that the preferred <abbr title=\"High Speed Two\">HS2<\/abbr> route would include a spur into Sheffield via Chesterfield, the Secretary of State has asked that electrification of this section of the Midland Main Line be included within the next hybrid Bill for <abbr title=\"High Speed Two\">HS2<\/abbr>.<\/p>\n<p><abbr title=\"High Speed Two\">HS2<\/abbr> Ltd will begin its preparatory works with a series of land surveys to further inform the work programme. A public consultation on the works required for electrification will be undertaken at a later date, prior to any hybrid Bill being brought to Parliament.<\/p>\n<p>An <abbr title=\"High Speed Two\">HS2<\/abbr> Ltd spokesperson said:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>The benefits that <abbr title=\"High Speed Two\">HS2<\/abbr> will deliver are significant and should not be underestimated.
