{"id":93854,"date":"2018-07-12T10:29:09","date_gmt":"2018-07-12T10:29:09","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=4258ddb44382f361f0d0133ab068ebae"},"modified":"2018-07-12T10:29:09","modified_gmt":"2018-07-12T10:29:09","slug":"press-release-lord-duncan-to-visit-scottish-borders-to-discuss-food-and-drink-production","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=93854","title":{"rendered":"Press release: Lord Duncan to visit Scottish Borders to discuss food and drink production"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>He will be speaking with a variety of stakeholders about EU exit, the future of farming, and the importance of agricultural innovation to improve output and boost producer\u2019s profits.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking ahead of the visit, Lord Duncan said:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"last-child\">Make no mistake, Scotland\u2019s food and drink is iconic \u2013 it is recognised for its quality and heritage all over the world, and is an enormous draw for tourists and investors alike.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"last-child\">And it\u2019s not just salmon and whisky \u2013 Scotland\u2019s soft fruits, meat and dairy produce is renowned for flavour and I\u2019m really looking forward to meeting processors, growers and farmers and hearing all about their businesses and their thoughts on how the UK Government can support agriculture in Scotland.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"last-child\">At the Royal Highland Show I spoke about the importance that science and innovation has to play in agriculture and Dourie Farm is a great example of how genetic science can make a positive impact on the farm\u2019s bottom line.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"last-child\">I\u2019m also keen to hear from the teams behind Eyeball brewing and Thistley cross cider. Scotland\u2019s craft drinks industry is booming and the demand is out there.
