{"id":93860,"date":"2018-07-12T11:30:00","date_gmt":"2018-07-12T11:30:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=9a661599e650c14368a807cd08114a53"},"modified":"2018-07-12T11:30:00","modified_gmt":"2018-07-12T11:30:00","slug":"news-story-combating-rural-isolation-with-technology-apply-for-funding","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=93860","title":{"rendered":"News story: Combating rural isolation with technology: apply for funding"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/collections\/govtech-catalyst-information\">GovTech Catalyst<\/a> is to invest up to \u00a3250,000 in projects that combat digital exclusion and a lack of access to transport in rural communities in South Wales.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"impact-on-peoples-wellbeing\">Impact on people\u2019s wellbeing<\/h2>\n<p><a rel=\"external\" href=\"http:\/\/www.monmouthshire.gov.uk\/\">Monmouthshire County Council<\/a> is home to 92,800 people, with isolation and loneliness having a significant impact on wellbeing.<\/p>\n<p>Through the GovTech Catalyst &#8211; government\u2019s \u00a320 million fund to find creative solutions to complex public sector problems &#8211; Monmouthshire aims to develop digital innovations that could connect isolated people, transform public services and support transport opportunities.<\/p>\n<p>The first phase will fund a series of feasibility studies. The best ideas could go on to share up to \u00a31 million to develop them further.<\/p>\n<p>This competition is being run under the SBRI (Small Business Research Initiative).<\/p>\n<div class=\"call-to-action\">\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/collections\/sbri-the-small-business-research-initiative\">Find out more about SBRI and how it works.<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h2 id=\"addressing-rural-challenges\">Addressing rural challenges<\/h2>\n<p>The competition is calling for low cost, co-designed, user-friendly technology that tackle social isolation.<\/p>\n<p>There are 3 main challenges that projects should address.
