to pharmaceutical companies<\/a><br \/>\n  (<span class=\"type\"><abbr title=\"Portable Document Format\">PDF<\/abbr><\/span>, <span class=\"file-size\">65.9KB<\/span>, <span class=\"page-length\">3 pages<\/span>)<br \/>\n<\/span><br \/>\n Matt Hancock asks suppliers to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>increase their medicines stocks by at least 6 weeks on top of their usual buffer stocks<\/li>\n<li>ensure plans are in place to air freight products with a short shelf life that cannot be stockpiled<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In his <span id=\"attachment_2899921\" class=\"attachment-inline\"><br \/>\n  <a href=\"https:\/\/assets.publishing.service.gov.uk\/government\/uploads\/system\/uploads\/attachment_data\/file\/735746\/brexit-medical-devices-letter.pdf\">letter to suppliers of medical devices and clinical consumables<\/a><br \/>\n  (<span class=\"type\"><abbr title=\"Portable Document Format\">PDF<\/abbr><\/span>, <span class=\"file-size\">62.3KB<\/span>, <span class=\"page-length\">2 pages<\/span>)<br \/>\n<\/span><br \/>\n he says that:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>separate contingency plans are being developed<\/li>\n<li>stock holding at a national level will be increased<\/li>\n<li>further information will be provided to industry in September<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/guidance\/medicines-supply-contingency-planning-programme\">The Department of Health and Social Care has published additional guidance for the pharmaceutical industry<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Six technical notices relating to health have been published by the government, covering:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>unilateral recognition of batch testing of medicine<\/li>\n<li>life sciences IT system<\/li>\n<li>life sciences<\/li>\n<li>tobacco-related products<\/li>\n<li>organs, tissues, cells<\/li>\n<li>blood safety and quality standards<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Matt Hancock said:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>The government has made significant progress in negotiations with the EU and remains confident we will leave with a good deal for both sides, that supports existing and future healthcare collaboration.<\/p>\n<p>However, as a responsible government, we continue to prepare proportionately for all scenarios, including the unlikely outcome that we leave the EU without any deal in March 2019.<\/p>\n<p class=\"last-child\">Given the significant amount of work that has now been done, I am confident this gives a clear basis for the health and care sector and the life sciences industry to plan so that patients can continue to receive high-quality care
