{"id":95075,"date":"2018-08-28T14:17:44","date_gmt":"2018-08-28T14:17:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=efe57c99989ef585309c27ab4a00a289"},"modified":"2018-08-28T14:17:44","modified_gmt":"2018-08-28T14:17:44","slug":"news-story-crowdsourcing-new-exam-questions-apply-for-funding","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=95075","title":{"rendered":"News story: Crowdsourcing new exam questions: apply for funding"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>The <a rel=\"external\" href=\"http:\/\/ccea.org.uk\">Council for the Curriculum, Examinations and Assessment (CCEA)<\/a> has \u00a3150,000 for organisations that use crowdsourcing to expand existing sources of exam questions, reduce costs and improve quality.<\/p>\n<p>The competition will be run through the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/collections\/sbri-the-small-business-research-initiative\">Small Business Research Initiative (SBRI)<\/a>, which helps public sector bodies connect with innovative businesses to solve specific challenges.<\/p>\n<div class=\"call-to-action\">\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/publications\/sbri-helping-government-helping-business\">Find out more about SBRI and how it works<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h2 id=\"an-expanded-bank-of-quality-questions\">An expanded bank of quality questions<\/h2>\n<p>As Northern Ireland\u2019s leading awarding body, the CCEA offers a range of qualifications including GCSEs, A and AS levels, entry-level qualifications and vocational qualifications.<\/p>\n<p>Traditionally, exam questions have been set by teachers working in their own schools or as part of assessment teams. Now, the CCEA wants to develop a new set of reliable and verifiable questions through crowdsourcing.<\/p>\n<p>The aim is to expand the question banks available to schools and colleges, and keep costs under control without compromising on quality.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"testing-the-feasibility-and-demonstrating-a-prototype\">Testing the feasibility and demonstrating a prototype<\/h2>\n<p>This competition is looking for projects that can demonstrate how crowdsourcing could attract a broader base of high-quality questions.<\/p>\n<p>The competition will be run in 2 phases. The first phase will ask applicants to demonstrate the technical feasibility and commercial viability of their idea.<\/p>\n<p>Projects that are successful in this first phase will be invited to apply into a second phase to develop and evaluate their prototypes.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"competition-information\">Competition information<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>applications are open, and the deadline to apply is 3pm on 17 September 2018<\/li>\n<li>the competition is open to any organisation. You\u2019ll need to register as a supplier on <a rel=\"external\" href=\"https:\/\/etendersni.gov.uk\/epps\/prepareRegisterEOOrg.do?registerEO=true&amp;selectedItem=prepareRegisterEOOrg.do%3FregisterEO%3Dtrue\">eTendersNI<\/a> in order to apply.
