{"id":95359,"date":"2018-09-06T12:42:35","date_gmt":"2018-09-06T12:42:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=9fd9cfd31527fa57e681c4f2e84bbe8f"},"modified":"2018-09-06T12:42:35","modified_gmt":"2018-09-06T12:42:35","slug":"press-release-winning-bids-to-drive-millions-of-investment-into-midlands","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=95359","title":{"rendered":"Press release: Winning bids to drive millions of investment into Midlands"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>As the Board of Trade meets in Coventry today (Thursday 6 September), International Trade Secretary Dr Liam Fox MP\u202fwill announce 3 new High Potential Opportunities (<abbr title=\"High Potential Opportunities\">HPO<\/abbr>) areas.<\/p>\n<p>The Department for International Trade\u2019s (<abbr title=\"Department for International Trade\">DIT<\/abbr>) global network \u2013 based in 177 cities around the world \u2013 will now contact investors to promote the opportunities and attract top global investment into the Midlands.<\/p>\n<p>The scheme, coordinated by <abbr title=\"Department for International Trade\">DIT<\/abbr>, identifies opportunities to attract foreign direct investment into emerging sectors, regions and clusters \u2013 creating new jobs and growth in every corner of the UK.<\/p>\n<p>The recent round of successful <abbr title=\"High Potential Opportunities\">HPO<\/abbr> bids will see:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Leamington Spa\u2019s gaming industry in Warwickshire bolstered<\/li>\n<li>Leicestershire\u2019s leading space sector strengthened through satellite production and earth observation technologies<\/li>\n<li>greater opportunities for Worcestershire technology companies to increase and innovate their data security capabilities<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The High Potential Opportunities Scheme is part of the International Trade Secretary\u2019s drive to secure new investment into the Midlands. Earlier this year, Dr Fox announced more than \u00a330 billion worth of investment-ready projects, of which nearly \u00a311 billion are in the Midlands.<\/p>\n<p>International Trade Secretary and President of the Board of Trade Dr Liam Fox MP said:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"last-child\">The High Potential Opportunities scheme will deliver\u202fgrowth where it is most needed, ensuring that the benefits of\u202fglobal\u202finvestment are felt\u202fin every part of the\u202fUK. I am delighted to be able to announce that Warwickshire, Leicestershire and Worcestershire have all been successful in their bids.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote>\n<p class=\"last-child\">My international economic department is very much looking forward to working with local partners, including the Local Enterprise Partnerships, on securing the right investment for these exciting opportunities.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><abbr title=\"Department for International Trade\">DIT<\/abbr> works directly with companies in 60 countries around the world. Last year, <abbr title=\"Department for International Trade\">DIT<\/abbr> supported 1,682 investment projects which created or safeguarded 81,206 jobs in the UK. Of this, 196 investment projects were supported across the Midlands, safeguarding 298 local jobs.<\/p>\n<p>Whilst in Coventry, Dr Fox will also announce a second international trade summer school, to run in summer 2019. This follows the success of this year\u2019s National Trade Academy Programme summer school.
