{"id":95970,"date":"2018-09-25T08:30:04","date_gmt":"2018-09-25T08:30:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=bcbe9ec91a566f1291d7053f3e53058f"},"modified":"2018-09-25T08:30:04","modified_gmt":"2018-09-25T08:30:04","slug":"news-story-innovative-healthcare-projects-deliver-millions-of-savings-to-nhs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=95970","title":{"rendered":"News story: Innovative healthcare projects deliver millions of savings to NHS"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>An independent review highlights how the NHS and other public sector organisations have saved \u00a330 million and achieved wider economic and social benefits, through just 8 <a rel=\"external\" href=\"https:\/\/sbrihealthcare.co.uk\/\">SBRI Healthcare<\/a> projects.<\/p>\n<p>Commissioned by the NHS, the <a rel=\"external\" href=\"https:\/\/www.paconsulting.com\/\">PA Consulting<\/a> report &#8211; called \u2018<a rel=\"external\" href=\"https:\/\/sbrihealthcare.co.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/81492-Review-of-the-Benefits-of-SBRI-Healthcare_Brochures_SPREADS_v1.pdf\">SBRI Healthcare: a review of the benefits of the Small Business Research Initiative in healthcare<\/a>\u2019 &#8211; says how the projects delivered a \u00a330 million saving by July 2017, with recurring annual savings running at \u00a319 million.<\/p>\n<p>These projects also attracted \u00a3122 million in private investment, delivered \u00a36.4 million in export sales and created 285 jobs.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"successful-projects-delivered-wide-benefits\">Successful projects delivered wide benefits<\/h2>\n<p>The 8 high-impact projects that helped to deliver the saving include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<a rel=\"external\" href=\"http:\/\/www.isansys.com\/\">Isansys Lifecare<\/a>, which supports automated patient observations and alerts through wearable sensors to support better care management and treatment<\/li>\n<li>\n<a rel=\"external\" href=\"https:\/\/mymhealth.com\/\">My mHealth<\/a>, whose self-management telehealth system helps patients with lung diseases<\/li>\n<li>\n<a rel=\"external\" href=\"https:\/\/365response.org\/\">365 Response<\/a>, which has developed an online marketplace for non-emergency patient transport<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a rel=\"external\" href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/BB-0is5EYtQ\">Success story: Isansys is revolutionising monitoring of patients<\/a><\/p>\n<p>They were also found to offer wider benefits, including time-savings for clinicians, a fall in non-attendance by patients, better patient outcomes, better access to services and reduced waiting times.<\/p>\n<h2 id=\"future-economic-impact\">Future economic impact<\/h2>\n<p>As part of the report, PA Consulting looked at a further 14 projects to assess future economic impact.<\/p>\n<p>Looking at their potential, it estimates savings to the NHS could rise to between \u00a3350 to \u00a3480 million in 2022, and \u00a31.2 to \u00a31.8 billion in 2027.<\/p>\n<p>The report is a snapshot of the potential benefits. In total, SBRI Healthcare funded 176 projects to a value of \u00a373 million from 2013 to July 2017.<\/p>\n<p>The SBRI programme works by bringing together government challenges and ideas from industry.
