{"id":96718,"date":"2018-10-18T14:02:12","date_gmt":"2018-10-18T14:02:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=6dee6301cb86e8d3e74b876d9c5f49cb"},"modified":"2018-10-18T14:02:12","modified_gmt":"2018-10-18T14:02:12","slug":"news-story-new-inspector-for-police-forces-and-fire-services-appointed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=96718","title":{"rendered":"News story: New inspector for police forces and fire services appointed"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>Phil Gormley has been appointed to take up the dual roles of Her Majesty\u2019s Inspector of Constabulary and Inspector of Fire &amp; Rescue Authorities in England.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Gormley will oversee inspections primarily in the North of England and will play a key role in carrying out the national inspection of fire and rescue authorities and the annual all-force policing inspection by Her Majesty\u2019s Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire &amp; Rescue Services (HMICFRS).<\/p>\n<p>Mr Gormley has worked in UK policing and law enforcement for 32 years, including periods as Chief Constable at Norfolk Constabulary and Police Scotland.<\/p>\n<p>He also served as the deputy director-general of the National Crime Agency.<\/p>\n<p>Mr Gormley said:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Policing and public service have been my life\u2019s work, so I am delighted to be appointed by Her Majesty.<\/p>\n<p class=\"last-child\">I look forward to working with colleagues at the Inspectorate and across policing and fire and rescue to continue to improve these vital services.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Mr Gormley was selected following a stringent recruitment process, which followed the Office of the Commissioner for Public Appointments (OCPA) Code of Practice.<\/p>\n<p>The selection panel was led by an independent chair, Amanda Campbell, CEO of the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman.
