{"id":96904,"date":"2018-10-24T20:49:00","date_gmt":"2018-10-24T20:49:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=54f2a7039592d18e26d35d3f4c608ef3"},"modified":"2018-10-24T20:49:00","modified_gmt":"2018-10-24T20:49:00","slug":"press-release-latest-ons-figures-show-exports-in-services-continue-to-grow","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=96904","title":{"rendered":"Press release: Latest ONS figures show exports in services continue to grow"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>Office for National Statistics (<abbr title=\"Office for National Statistics\">ONS<\/abbr>) figures show demand for British services continues to grow, as exports swelled to \u00a3286 billion in the year to 2018 Q2.<\/p>\n<p>The data indicates UK service exports to the world rose by almost \u00a319 billion \u2013 an increase of 6.9% compared to the same time last year.<\/p>\n<p>Figures released today (24 October 2018) reflect an increase in exports to important trading partners including USA, Australia and South Korea.<\/p>\n<p>The latest services surplus in the year to 2018 Q2 has also reached a new high, increasing to \u00a3117 billion \u2013 up 11.3% on last year. Other main points from today\u2019s release include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Service exports to Non-EU countries have increased by 4.5% to \u00a3167 billion. A fast-growing contributor was South Korea where the total value of exports in services increased to \u00a32.4 billion.<\/li>\n<li>The USA remains the UK\u2019s top services destination, with exports increasing to \u00a359 billion, accounting for 20.6% of total exports.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>International Trade Secretary Dr Liam Fox MP said:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Today\u2019s trade figures show demand for UK services overseas continues to soar. Overall services exports have risen to \u00a3286 billion \u2013 up 6.9% on this time last year, while the trade services surplus has also increased to \u00a3117 billion.<\/p>\n<p class=\"last-child\">There is clear appetite for British services further afield, as the US and Far East offer some of the greatest growth prospects of the 21st century.
