{"id":96974,"date":"2018-10-26T10:49:00","date_gmt":"2018-10-26T10:49:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?guid=1d22bb386579bd7dd81846e796df4365"},"modified":"2018-10-26T10:49:00","modified_gmt":"2018-10-26T10:49:00","slug":"statement-to-parliament-crossrail-delay","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mostafa.openonline.co.uk\/?p=96974","title":{"rendered":"Statement to Parliament: Crossrail update"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"govspeak\">\n<p>On 31 August 2018, Crossrail Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Transport for London (<abbr title=\"Transport for London\">TfL<\/abbr>), announced a delay to the planned opening of the Elizabeth Line.<\/p>\n<p>Discussions between <abbr title=\"Transport for London\">TfL<\/abbr> and government are underway as to how any additional funding will be provided, with London &#8211; as the primary beneficiary of Crossrail \u2013 bearing any additional costs via a financing arrangement.<\/p>\n<p><abbr title=\"Transport for London\">TfL<\/abbr> and the Department for Transport have commissioned an independent review of Crossrail\u2019s governance and a separate review on Crossrail\u2019s finance and commercial position.<\/p>\n<p>Today (26 October 2018), as an interim measure, we are announcing that \u00a3350 million of short term repayable financing will be made available to the Mayor for the year 2018\/19. This will ensure that full momentum is<br \/>\nmaintained behind Crossrail.<\/p>\n<p>This project is already delivering benefits for the whole of the UK through its cross-country supply chain and its UK built train fleet.
