It aims to \u2018bring together the British and Irish Governments to promote bilateral co-operation on all matters of mutual interest within the competence of both governments\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>The <abbr title=\"British-Irish Inter-Governmental Conference\">BIIGC<\/abbr> is not an executive body and, as the Belfast Agreement states explicitly, \u201cthere will be no derogation from the sovereignty of either government\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The <abbr title=\"British-Irish Inter-Governmental Conference\">BIIGC<\/abbr> is \u2018concerned with non-devolved Northern Ireland matters\u2019 and will include a discussion on East-West issues.
