The latest figures published by the Office for National Statistics show that employment in Wales has increased by 10,000 over the last quarter and that 32,000 more people are in work than this time last year.

Youth unemployment continues to fall in Wales – over the last two months we have seen two consecutive large falls in youth unemployment. Although unemployment in Wales is unchanged over the last quarter it is down 6,000 over the year.

Mr Jones said:

It is very encouraging that the latest statistics continue to show encouraging signs of growth in Wales and these figures show Wales moving in the right direction.

The UK Government has made supporting our economy a priority and today’s figures show we are on the right track.

It is positive that here are now 32,000 more people in work than this time last year.

I will be holding a second Job Summit, this time in North Wales, to encourage and open up discussions on employment and the issues businesses face.
