Commenting following the elections of the Syrian opposition, Foreign Secretary, William Hague, said:

“I welcome the election of Ahmed Assi Jarba as President of the Syrian National Coalition. We look forward to working closely with him and the new leadership team to help the Syrian opposition promote its vision of a free, democratic and pluralist Syria that defends the rights of all Syrians and to support its efforts to help the Syrian people.”
