Following the meeting, a Downing Street spokesperson said:

The prime ministers’ discussions focused on the European economy and driving growth in both countries. They agreed that the EU must reform to become more competitive, flexible and accountable and stressed the importance of a flexible EU which respects the sovereignty of member states.

They also agreed on the need for safeguards to protect the integrity of the single market as a whole, and the interests of non-Eurozone countries, as the Eurozone moves towards banking and financial union. The Prime Minister set out his priorities for the October European Council, including cutting red tape for European businesses.
