The 120 personnel from the brigade, which has its headquarters in Tidworth, had recently returned from Afghanistan’s Helmand province and following the parade attended a reception at the Houses of Parliament.

The brigade has completed a 6-month summer tour under the command of Brigadier Rupert Jones supporting the Afghan National Security Forces in central Helmand.

The parade was led by mounted policemen and the Band of the Life Guards.

The marching contingent from 1st Mechanized Brigade included soldiers from the Household Cavalry Regiment, the Irish Guards, the Second Royal Tank Regiment, 1st Battalion The Royal Regiment of Fusiliers, 2nd Battalion The Duke of Lancaster’s Regiment, 2nd Battalion The Royal Regiment of Scotland and 4th Battalion The Rifles.

Other units represented at the parade included 22 Engineer Regiment, 5 Medical Regiment, 1st Regiment Royal Horse Artillery and 215 Signal Squadron.
