Following the meeting, a Downing Street spokesperson said:

The leaders, who had earlier met at the World Islamic Economic Forum (WIEF), used the opportunity to discuss the bilateral relationship, focusing on how they could boost trade and investment and strengthen defence and security ties. The Prime Minister welcomed the announcement that Scottish based engineering firm, the Weir Group, would be expanding its operations in Malaysia. The Prime Minister said he was particularly keen for the UK and Malaysia to work closely on Islamic finance and thanked Prime Minister Najib for his support in bringing the WIEF to London and making it the first city to host the Forum outside the Islamic world.

They also briefly discussed recent developments in Iran, welcoming the new engagement from the Iranian leadership. On the upcoming Commonwealth Heads of Government meeting in Sri Lanka, the Prime Minister made clear the need to take a very tough message to the Sri Lankan government about human rights abuses.
