This item was filled under Housing

Commenting in the wake of Nepal’s Constituent Assembly elections on 19 November, Mr Swire said:

I want to congratulate the people of Nepal who turned out in large numbers to cast their vote on 19 November. These elections were generally peaceful and well run, a credit to the people and the election authorities. While we wait for the final results I urge all to respect the democratic process and direct any complaints or issues they may have with the process through the appropriate channels. These elections are necessary for Nepal to reach a durable, democratic and inclusive constitutional settlement. This is why the UK has been working to support them – politically, technically and financially – from day one. We will continue to support the process and Nepal in every way we can.
