“I am saddened to learn that Edgar Tamayo, a Mexican national, has been executed in Texas. The British Government opposes the death penalty in all circumstances. We also take the issue of consular notification very seriously. Like Secretary of State John Kerry, we were concerned that the Mexican authorities were not notified of Mr Tamayo’s arrest, in accordance with the Vienna Convention on Consular relations.”
