I am delighted that Jens Stoltenberg has been appointed as the next NATO Secretary General. Jens will bring a wealth of experience to this role at the helm of the transatlantic alliance and he will take over during a crucial year in the history of the organisation.

Recent events in Ukraine have underlined that, even once we complete our mission in Afghanistan, there will be new challenges to respond to. And this year’s summit in Wales will be an opportunity for us all to discuss how we ensure NATO remains a relevant, modern, adaptable force and the best guarantor of our collective security.
